Recently Mac OS updates have caused problems with my intranet. It seems that if I want to access my local network, I have to grant access in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network. That’s okay, but what is a freaking pain is I have to do this every time I restart my computer (turn it off, turn it on again – sounds just like Microsoft). I guess I’m one of the few people that use their local network AND shuts down his computer every night.
I have tried researching this, going to message boards (I’m looking at you discussions.apple.com), but the “experts” (everyone is an expert in forums) think this is only occurring for me, and that I have something set up incorrectly. They have tried to convince me that it is not the O.S., and that I must have a firewall blocking my local network access. They have tried to tell me that local network access is (more of less) unnecessay, even though I have a server, a network tv tuner, and other computers on my lan.
This is occurring on every mac computer on my local network, including my brand new M4 mac mini. They blame the network problems on that device, due to issues on my older device that I migrated from. News flash, I did not use migration, I set up everything manually, brand new.
The experts have given up on me because I don’t want to download some software, run it, and report the details of this software scan to them. Goodness knows what personal information (about my lan, computer, etc.) I would be posting to the public.
I did find someone else with more of less the same issue and pointed the experts to that post, but no good. People will see what they want to see. What ever, hopefully Apple will figure out the issue and fix it some day. Didn’t have this issue before, hopefully it will be gone in the future.
