I was a child of the 60\u2019s and 70\u2019s.\u00a0 Yes, kids, that means I\u2019m old.\u00a0 No, kids, dinosaurs did not roam the earth in my childhood, more\u2019s the pity.\u00a0 It was a wonderful and terrible age.\u00a0 It was before the fall of the wall that separated the two Germanies, the fall of the U.S.S.R., and the arrival\/detection of A.I.D.S.\u00a0 Man was going to the moon; yes, I watched that on live T.V. (in black and white), and the U.S. was involved in a police action in an asian country called Viet Nam.\u00a0\u00a0 Everyone had a T.V. antenna on their roof, because there was no cable or satellite T.V.\u00a0 And for that matter, computers were things that were only in movies (they were fed cards, and, or had big, spinning wheels of magnetic tape like reel-to-reel players*), or in the hands of scientists, possibly the government.\u00a0 There was no internet, and parents found out about your goings on through a secret society of neighbors who all surreptitiously kept tabs on you.\u00a0 Anyway, back to my original topic.<\/p>\n
I was raised by a single mother who had a lot of famous sayings.\u00a0 Well, they were famous in my mind anyway.\u00a0 As I have aged I have found that not all of the sayings were as famous as I once thought.\u00a0 I was amazed to find that some people had never heard such things.\u00a0 Sayings like:<\/p>\n
Do you want a medal or a chest to pin it on?<\/p>\n
If you can\u2019t zig, then you gotta zag.<\/p>\n
And finally, the reason for this post, which came to me in this morning\u2019s shower \u2013 What\u2019s that got to do with the price of tea in China?<\/p>\n
Well, mom, in spite of the fact that even back then it was a global economy, now it\u2019s much, much more so.\u00a0 The internet and electronic communications of all sorts, stock market, buying, selling, trading, and ever closer ties (to a one world government) of nations, lead to one conclusion:\u00a0 everything.<\/p>\n
